‘Mobile working kit/charcoal on site’ (2020)
‘Mobile working kit/charcoal on site’
Solo exhibition
University of Chester, Kingsway Campus
December 2020
This exhibition was the second exhibition (out of six) in which I showed artwork and associated materials in connection to my practice-based research project at the University of Chester. This six-year project consisted of the development of a new visual arts practice in response to the landscape of Bakestonedale Moor, an exposed area in the Peak District (UK). The artefacts and documentation materials on show informed about three aspects of the work. Firstly it provided examples of my work with drawing in response to the outdoor world of Bakestonedale Moor, in particular my explorations using paper in the form of scrolls, and charcoal. Secondly, I provided examples of my reflective practice process showing books, posters and videos. And, third, I also exhibited artmaking materials, and their gradually emerging use as ‘mobile working kit’ modules, functioning as drawing supports and sculptural elements for outdoor use, and as storage facilities for studio purposes.
