‘MA Final show ’ (2018)

MA Fine Art 2018
Group exhibition by postgraduate students of the MA Fine Art Course at University of Chester
Kingsway Campus, Chester
October 2018
In my MA studies I explored artmaking outdoors, in particular in response to the environment of the Peak District and remote areas in Scotland.
At the heart of my investigations I explored the use of lines as physical additions to landscape rather than as elements in a picture. I also explored my own walking and running over land as kinetic and theatrical contributions to landscape and as a means to generate personal experience which I then used to produce drawings. I exhibited such drawings but also the photographs and videos of walking, running and drawing outdoors. With such exhibits, I consciously played with the relationship between the materiality of the artwork - as seen in an exhibition - and what the artwork might suggest to a viewer: where the artefacts and myself had been outdoors, how I had made the artworks and in which way all these processes had been influenced by weather and topography of the landscape. The materials and shape of the artworks as well as the form and processes of a landscape all tell a wider story of their own becoming.
